Junet appeals to unsuccessful ODM nomination candidates ahead of the November by-elections
Junet Mohammed, the Director of Elections for the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), has urged candidates who were not successful in the party primaries to support the nominees for the upcoming by-elections. In a statement released by the party on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, the Suna East MP called for unity following the primary elections, highlighting the necessity of backing the selected candidates for the benefit of the party. He stressed that the success of these candidates would bring honor to the party and encouraged those who did not succeed in the primaries to set aside their ambitions and support the winners in the interest of the party. "We must prioritize the Party. In any competition, there are winners and losers; that is the nature of the game," he stated. His comments came after the party distributed nomination certificates during a vibrant ceremony at the party headquarters located at Chungwa House. Moses Odhiambo Omondi will represent the party in the Ugunja constituency by-election, while Boyd Were will stand for the party in the Kasipul Constituency. In a related development, ODM officials in Ugenya are strategizing to reclaim the MP seat in 2027.
