Dignitaries gather at Nyayo Stadium for Raila’s State Funeral

Officials have arrived at Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi to attend the State Funeral of former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga, who passed away last week in India. Among the early attendees are Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, former President Uhuru Kenyatta, and Chief Justice Martha Koome. Former President of Tanzania, Jakaya Kikwete, also made his way to the venue accompanied by Vice President Philip Mpango. President William Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto arrived at the venue at 9:30 AM, where they were welcomed by Chief of Defence Forces Gen. Charles Kahariri. President Ruto is set to lead the nation in honoring the veteran opposition leader and icon of democracy. Security is stringent both inside and outside the stadium, with military honor guards positioned along the red carpet in anticipation of the casket's arrival, which will be carried in a ceremonial procession by the Kenya Defence Forces. The funeral service will include prayers, eulogies, and tributes from both local and international dignitaries, as part of the national mourning activities for the 80-year-old reformist, who is scheduled to be laid to rest on Sunday.
