Disorder at JKIA as Crowds Overwhelm Security During Raila’s Arrival

The official reception for former Prime Minister Raila Odinga at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) turned chaotic as supporters flooded the airport, overwhelming the security forces.

President William Ruto, who was meant to oversee the reception of Raila’s remains, was unable to fulfill this duty due to the unruly behavior of the crowds. Former President Uhuru Kenyatta and other dignitaries were also not seen amidst the turmoil. Supporters encircled Raila’s casket, rendering military personnel on the scene largely ineffective in managing the situation. Attempts by Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo to pacify the crowd proved futile, as mourners continued to gather around the casket.
