Flags are flown at half-mast as Kenya mourns the passing of Raila Odinga.

Across Kenya, flags at significant government locations, including the Official Residence of President William Ruto at State House in Nairobi and that of his Deputy Kithure Kindiki in Karen, were displayed at half-mast on Thursday, marking the second day of mourning for the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

President William Ruto mandated the flags to be lowered on Wednesday as a tribute to Raila and proclaimed a week-long period of national mourning following the death of the esteemed leader. The flags at half-mast symbolize respect and signify the national sorrow for a figure who has significantly influenced Kenya’s political scene for more than forty years. The country continues to honor Raila, affectionately known as Baba, for his relentless efforts in advocating for democracy, reform, and national unity.
