How Dansted Technologies is evading revenue for Nairobi City County

Governor Johnson Sakaja has faced significant pressure to ensure that county staff receive their salaries.

However, due to the inability of city hall to fund salaries from its own sources and internally generated revenue, it has become reliant on disbursements from the national treasury to meet these obligations. Nonetheless, many residents of Nairobi have been questioning why city hall is unable to utilize internally generated revenue to pay salaries. The explanation is quite straightforward: numerous businesses fail to fulfill their tax obligations. Some businesses evade taxes, while others collude with corrupt county officials to misappropriate the revenue. Today, we expose how a company known as Dansted Technologies is avoiding tax payments. According to their advertisements, which fall under the outdoor and advertisement department, they are required to pay for the distribution of advertisement fliers, which must be stamped and paid for prior to distribution. On this day, 10/10/25, the company hired individuals to distribute fliers in the Eastlands estates of Nairobi. It is crucial to highlight that the fliers were not stamped as mandated by law, indicating that they were not paid for and were distributed illegally. We possess over 20 fliers that have not been stamped by city hall but were nonetheless distributed. This situation illustrates why Governor Sakaja struggles to generate sufficient revenue to cover salaries and other development programs. This company is obligated to pay for advertisements through the distribution of fliers. We urge city hall to initiate an investigation into this company and to review the records to determine how much they have paid or were supposed to pay. If it is confirmed that they have evaded payments, they should be prosecuted in accordance with city bylaws. This is a grave issue that requires prompt investigation and action to recover the lost revenue.
