Kalonzo Musyoka Commits To Fulfill Raila Odinga’s Journey To ‘Canaan’ In 2027
Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has committed to assume the responsibility of completing the political liberation journey initiated by the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, promising to guide Kenyans to the long-awaited ‘Canaan’ on behalf of the deceased opposition leader. During Odinga’s state funeral service, Musyoka characterized the occasion as both a generational transition in leadership and a pledge to honor Raila’s lasting legacy of justice, democracy, and electoral integrity. “I wish to address Raila, as this may be my only opportunity,” Musyoka expressed. “You know, we referred to you as Joshua. We have yet to reach Canaan. Indeed, there were crocodiles in the River Jordan, as we often remarked.” For over a decade, the aspiration of leading Kenyans to Canaan — symbolizing a just, corruption-free, and thriving nation — has been a cornerstone of Raila Odinga’s political narrative. Modern-day Joshua The term gained significant national attention during the 2017 NASA campaigns, where Raila depicted himself as a modern-day Joshua, destined to guide the nation across the metaphorical River Jordan into the promised land of democratic freedom. Musyoka, who was Raila’s running mate in that campaign and is now emerging as the new face of the opposition, has positioned himself as the individual to complete that unfinished journey. “To paraphrase the late Martin Luther King Jr., you’ve reached the mountaintop, you’ve glimpsed the promised land — and although you may not accompany us, we must arrive there on your behalf,” he proclaimed. “I offer you my commitment: the principles you championed, the tears, the anguish of a stolen election — as my brother James Orengo articulated — that suffering will not be in vain. The nation stands united,” Musyoka concluded.
