KDF Reaffirms Commitment to Transparency in Recruitment Drive
The Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) has reaffirmed its dedication to integrity and fairness during the ongoing nationwide recruitment initiative, which commenced smoothly in Homa Bay on Monday. Lieutenant Colonel Austin Kirwa, who oversees the Homa Bay recruitment center, noted that the turnout from local youth was remarkably high and that the process was advancing as anticipated. "The recruitment has been conducted in an orderly manner, and candidates have displayed significant enthusiasm. We are satisfied with the progress made thus far," he stated. Kirwa elaborated that the recruitment aims to fill roles that require technical and specialized skills, with candidates undergoing aptitude and competence assessments to determine their suitability. He underscored that the recruitment process is transparent, devoid of corruption, and strictly based on merit, cautioning applicants against being misled by fraudsters who claim to have influence over the process. "KDF does not solicit or accept bribes. Do not be fooled into thinking that someone can assist you in joining the military. The process is transparent, verifiable, and entirely merit-based," he emphasized. KDF recruitment includes document verification, physical and medical screenings, as well as aptitude tests. Candidates must fulfill basic criteria, with an age limit of 18 to 26 years for general recruits, while height, weight, and educational standards differ across various categories. The minimum height requirement is 1.60 meters for men and 1.52 meters for women, with a minimum weight of 54.5 kilograms for men and 50 kilograms for women. Those who meet the qualifications are shortlisted, interviewed, and subjected to additional medical evaluations before being enlisted for training at the Recruits Training School in Eldoret or the Kenya Military Academy in Lanet. The nationwide KDF recruitment exercise follows a structured and rigorous procedure to ensure that only qualified and disciplined individuals are selected.
