Kenya, Senegal Agree 90-Day Visa-Free Travel For Citizens

Kenya and Senegal have removed visa restrictions for their citizens traveling between the two countries.

President William Ruto and President Bassirou Diomaye Faye of Senegal were present for the signing of the agreement at State House in Nairobi on Tuesday.
The President stated that the visa-free travel arrangement, which allows stays of up to 90 days, will enhance bilateral relations between Kenya and Senegal.
"This significant milestone will promote stronger connections among our people and stimulate tourism, trade, and collaboration," he remarked.
President Faye is currently in the country for an Official Visit and served as the chief guest at the Mashujaa Day celebrations held in Kitui County on Monday.
The two leaders reiterated their shared commitment to closer cooperation in trade, peace and security, energy, sports, and multilateral affairs.
"Our collaboration in these areas is intended not only to boost prosperity but also to encourage sustainable development between our two nations," he stated.
The President highlighted that a Joint Cooperation Commission (JCC) will be instrumental in fortifying the relationship between the two countries.
He mentioned that Kenya is prepared to host the inaugural JCC meeting in early 2026, which aims to enhance cooperation in mutually beneficial sectors.
"Specifically, we will engage and aim to finalize new agreements that will broaden our bilateral cooperation," he added.
President Ruto indicated that Kenya and Senegal will also collaborate on removing obstacles that have hindered trade between the two nations.
"To tackle this issue, we pledge to work together to eliminate barriers, improve transport and digital infrastructure, harmonize standards, and encourage business-to-business interactions," he stated.
Furthermore, the two leaders committed to upholding the objectives of Agenda 2063 and supporting the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area Agreement, which is designed to promote continental industrialization, trade, and economic integration.
