Kericho County Referral Hospital Now Fully Operational Following Significant Upgrades
Health services have officially recommenced at the Kericho County Referral Hospital after several months of comprehensive renovations and modernization efforts that commenced in June, representing a significant achievement in the County’s continuous endeavors to enhance healthcare infrastructure and service delivery. The refurbishment initiative, led by the County Government of Kericho, aimed to improve patient safety, increase service capacity, and modernize health facilities. The enhancements, which signify a new phase for the hospital as it fully reopens for both inpatient and outpatient services, have effectively ushered in a new era of quality healthcare for the residents of Kericho and the broader South Rift region. In a statement, Kericho County Governor, Dr. Eric Mutai, confirmed that all services at the Kericho County Referral Hospital have completely resumed, highlighting that this transformation signifies a new chapter in the provision of efficient, reliable, and patient-centered healthcare in the County. Dr. Mutai disclosed that the hospital has undergone significant infrastructural improvements, including the removal of asbestos, the establishment of a new, modern kitchen, and general renovations across various departments. “These enhancements not only render the hospital safer but also improve the comfort and experience of our patients and staff,” he stated. He further mentioned that one of the most notable advancements in the reopening is the installation of a new 128-slice CT scanner, which replaces the previous machine that was damaged in a fire incident. This state-of-the-art upgrade significantly boosts the hospital’s diagnostic capabilities by facilitating faster, more accurate, and more reliable imaging services for patients. “This achievement reflects our steadfast commitment to providing world-class healthcare services right here in Kericho, thereby eliminating the necessity for patients to travel long distances for specialized scanning services,” he remarked.
