Wanga indicated that the residential buildings will rise to nine stories, adhering to contemporary planning standards. “The project will also feature infrastructure enhancements such as an upgraded sewer and water system, paved pathways, security measures, and community amenities,” he added. While addressing the media in Kisumu at the site where the NSSF project will be inaugurated on Thursday, Wanga mentioned that the construction is anticipated to last 18 months, with completion aimed for early 2027. The City Manager noted that the Milimani project is one of several regeneration initiatives currently in progress as the county seeks to replace older housing units. The estates with aging housing units that have been demolished and are undergoing new construction include Lumumba, Makasembo, and Anderson. UN Habitat is also poised to commence construction in the estates of Arina, Mosque, Shaurimoyo, Kibuye, and Muhoroni.
