Law Firm Seeks Eviction of Gachagua and Female Associate from Nairobi Apartment

A law firm located in Nairobi has requested the prompt eviction of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua along with a female associate from a luxury apartment in the city, citing allegations of illegal occupation and non-payment of a Sh25 million debt.

In a letter of demand dated Tuesday, September 30, Adrian Kamotho Njenga and Company Advocates, representing Royal Importers and Exporters Limited, accused Gachagua and Julia Muthoni Mwangi of unlawfully occupying Unit 02 on the first floor of Block D at Skyrock Apartments, situated on L.R. No. 330/317 in Nairobi, without fulfilling the agreed-upon terms. The law firm asserted that the two allegedly accessed the property under the condition that they would remit Sh25 million prior to taking possession, which they have failed to do. "Despite the clear failure to pay the required amount, you have, with complete disregard, continued to occupy our client’s property unlawfully," the letter states in part. "Our client has generously refrained from taking action, expecting you to fulfill your commitments. Instead, you have chosen to exploit our client’s patience." The attorneys are insisting on immediate vacating of the apartment, an acknowledgment of liability for unlawful occupation, and payment of any amounts due based on current market rates. They also cautioned that if Gachagua and Mwangi do not comply, the firm will resort to "all lawful means" to safeguard its client’s interests, which may include auctioning items located within the apartment. "All actions taken in accordance with our instructions will be at your own risk regarding costs and legal repercussions," the notice cautioned. This situation adds to the growing controversies surrounding Gachagua, occurring alongside a series of resignations from his Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) and an intensifying conflict with the former ruling Jubilee Party concerning Mt Kenya regional politics.
