Pressure intensifies on Migingo Girls Principal Irene Mboya to be transferred
The long-serving Principal of Migingo Girls High School, Irene Atieno Mboya, may soon be on her way to a transfer after more than a decade in her position.
This situation arises from requests made by stakeholders, parents, and even teachers, who now feel that she has remained in one role for too long and that the school requires fresh, youthful, and dynamic leadership. During her time at Migingo, there have been several instances of dissent from the local community, which is now advocating for one of their own, referred to as "the daughter of the soil," to assume control of the school's administration. Sources indicate that her transfer has been overdue for some time; however, whenever stakeholders advocate for it, the board, which she has managed to influence, collaborates with the TSC to prevent her transfer. Currently, the pressure is escalating, and no amount of lobbying will persuade the TSC to deny her transfer in January. One might question why a principal should remain in one position for ten years unless there is something exceptional about her leadership, which stakeholders assert is not the case. Additionally, stakeholders are calling for the auditor general's reports to be made public, as there are concerns regarding the school's management, which may have led to financial losses, yet the board appears to be shielding her.
