Pressure is increasing on the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to relocate Principal Hellen Mabese Luhangala of Tengecha Girls High School

As the third term approaches its conclusion, stakeholders at Tengecha Girls High School in Kericho County are fervently urging the TSC to facilitate the transfer of Principal Hellen Mabese Luhangala.

  In a conversation with Citizen Daily News, conducted under strict anonymity due to concerns of retaliation, parents and certain members of the local community assert that Hellen has remained in her position for an extended period without any visible development projects to demonstrate her leadership. The local community is now requesting that the TSC appoint a new principal in January, ideally someone who is a “daughter of the soil.” They allege that she has become adept at leading through authoritarian methods, coercion, intimidation, and threats against those who oppose her alleged involvement in corrupt practices, which have resulted in the misappropriation of public funds during her tenure. Furthermore, it is reported that she employs intimidation tactics against members of the Parents Association to endorse and facilitate illegal activities, particularly concerning unauthorized levies. The community contends that since Hellen assumed her role, she has instituted illegal levies annually, with no accountability for the funds collected. 

Consequently, the local community is now mobilizing to demand that the TSC transfer her and appoint a new principal from Kericho County in January.

    Nonsense. I am a resident of Tengecha and your blog is just hogwash. I interracted with Chief Principal, Hellen Mabese Luhangala, while still at Tengecha girls and she is an accomplished and dedicated educator, currently serving as the Principal of Moi Girls' High School- Vokoli in Vihiga County, Kenya. She is a national-level Principal known for her innovative approach to education and environmental conservation. Schools that have benefitted from her leadership include;
    1. Mwongori High School in Nyamira County (2002-2009)
    2. Sironga Girls' High School in Nyamira County (2009-2017)
    3. Moi Kapsowar Girls' High School in Elgeyo Market (2018-2022)
    4. Tengecha Girls' High School in Kericho County (2022-2024)
    5. Moi Girls' High School- Vokoli (Jan. 2024-to date) .

    Some of her notable achievements include
    - Reviving 4K Clubs: She re-introduced these clubs in the schools she headed, which focus on promoting agriculture and sustainable food production to empower students with practical skills.
    - Environmental Conservation: She has been recognized for her passion in maintaining a clean environment. She implemented initiatives such as recycling plastic waste to make dustbins and signposts.
    - Innovative Leadership: Her Innovative interventions have focused on integrating teaching with activities that promote sustainability and environmental awareness.
    - Mentorship: She is committed to mentoring young girls and promoting cultural events that preserve the environment and harness talent.

    Her dedication to education and environmental conservation has earned her recognition in the education sector and other spheres.

The embezzlement of public funds occurred during Mwangele's leadership, during which parents accused him of acting independently, while those expressing differing views were coerced, threatened, and intimidated into accepting illegal practices.
