Pressure on the new principal Kabare Girls to perform
Stakeholders at Kabare Girls High School are expressing their dissatisfaction with Principal Madam Wambui Njoroge, asserting that she has not been able to fill the significant role left by her predecessor. A group of parents, teachers, board members, and PA members are concerned about whether Wambui can uphold the high academic standards previously established, especially with the 2025 target aiming for a mean score of 9.7. Sources indicate that nearly a year after she assumed her position, most of the progress achieved by Lillian Muhini has been undone, and the school is slowly becoming a mere shadow of its former self. Parents have observed a decline in student discipline, as Wambui appears indifferent to maintaining order among the students. Incidents of indiscipline have increased, surpassing the levels seen during Lillian's seven-year leadership. Some parents now assert that incidents of lesbianism are on the rise, and the administration is taking minimal action to address the issue. Reports of such incidents have allegedly been made, but Wambui seems hesitant to implement significant measures. Teachers and non-teaching staff have also reported her authoritarian behavior. Those who hold differing views are subjected to victimization, while PA members are coerced, intimidated, and threatened into endorsing irregularities. Furthermore, it is claimed that during her year in charge, outstanding bills have surged, as suppliers report that they are not receiving payments as they did during Lillian's administration. For these reasons, stakeholders are urging the TSC and the Ministry of Education to consider transferring Wambui to another institution by the end of this year, with the hope that a new principal will take over the school next year.
