Reasons for the Delayed Salary Payments to BoM Teachers at Kapchemibei High School

Teachers who are employed by the Board of Management (BoG) are currently urging the relevant authorities to intervene and ensure that their salaries are disbursed in a timely manner.

It has been brought to public attention that the principal Julius Mibei has been withholding their salaries for periods extending up to two months, and when payments are eventually made, they are often received as late as the middle of the month. This situation is occurring at a time when students are required to pay their fees promptly, while teachers are left without timely compensation. In discussions with us, under strict conditions of anonymity due to fears of retaliation, the teachers expressed that they are facing severe financial difficulties, making it challenging to fulfill their family responsibilities. They assert that their inability to support their families stems from the principal's failure to fulfill his obligations to ensure timely salary payments. The teachers have accused him of exercising excessive authority, intimidation, coercion, and issuing threats to those who hold differing views. His leadership approach has been criticized as inadequate, contributing to a decline in academic performance. As a result, stakeholders are now advocating for his immediate transfer.
