The government has allocated Sh2.4 billion for the Inua Jamii Cash Transfer Programme, benefiting over 1.2 million recipients during the payment cycle for September 2025

As stated by Joseph Motari, the Principal Secretary for Labour and Social Protection, each recipient will receive Sh2,000, with disbursements having started on October 6, 2025.

These funds are intended to assist vulnerable populations, including individuals aged 70 and above and those with severe disabilities, as part of the government's initiative to alleviate poverty and economic challenges. Motari emphasized that the Inua Jamii programme is a fundamental component of Kenya's social protection framework, designed to enhance the welfare and dignity of the nation’s most at-risk citizens. "Inua Jamii is a vital element of the government's social protection strategy, aimed at reducing poverty and enhancing the well-being of the most vulnerable members of society," stated PS Motari. The programme specifically focuses on older individuals aged 70 and above, as well as those with severe disabilities, providing them with consistent financial assistance to enhance their living standards. This recent payment cycle underscores the government's dedication to ensuring social security for all, particularly for those who are frequently marginalized in the context of economic growth.
