The principal of Maruaki High School has been accused of inadequate development, declining academic performance, and mismanagement of public funds, prompting stakeholders to demand his immediate transfer

The situation at Maruaki High School is troubling, as parents, students, and stakeholders have united in their call for the immediate transfer of Principal Samuel Njama. In an interview with Citizen Daily, conducted under strict anonymity due to fears of retaliation, it was revealed that Njama has not demonstrated a serious commitment to enhancing the school's development, particularly regarding the declining academic standards. The school's average performance is unsatisfactory, and he appears to be taking no action to address this issue.

Stakeholders are urging the Teachers Service Commission to act swiftly and appoint a new principal by January; otherwise, they will obstruct Njama's access to the school at that time. Additionally, they accuse him of authoritarian behavior, coercion, intimidation, and making threats against anyone who holds differing opinions. He operates as a lone ranger, rarely consulting even his own deputies. Njama is also known for imposing illegal fees and using coercion and intimidation to secure approval for these illegalities from both the board and the Parents Association. The school is burdened with significant unpaid bills. Suppliers are not compensated in a timely manner, and even non-teaching staff receive their salaries late and at inadequate amounts. The state of infrastructural development is lacking, despite parents contributing development fees annually. Stakeholders are now insisting that the Teachers Service Commission must transfer him by the end of this term, expressing a desire for a local candidate to assume the role in January.
