Uhuru Visits Raila’s Gravesite A Day After His Burial

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta made a discreet visit on Monday to the burial site of the late Raila Odinga, just a day after the esteemed opposition leader was interred at his rural residence in Kango Ka Jaramogi, Bondo.

The visit was conducted privately, without any official entourage.   Uhuru took a few moments at the gravesite to pay his respects to a man he once regarded as a close friend and political ally. After the visit, the former president engaged in a private meeting with Oburu Oginga, Raila’s elder brother. Uhuru and Raila had a lengthy and intricate political relationship, characterized by both rivalry and subsequent collaboration. Their handshake in 2018 represented a pivotal moment in Kenyan politics, indicating a dedication to national unity and reconciliation. Raila Odinga recently passed away following a brief illness. His funeral was attended by thousands, including both local and international dignitaries.
