Why the Masii Girls parents have expressed their disapproval of the newly appointed principal, Esther Wambugu, due to her controversial history at Mumbi Girls

Before the situation could stabilize following Esther Wambugu's contentious transfer from Mumbi Girls to Masii Girls, various stakeholders are urging the Teacher Service Commission to promptly annul the transfer.

Parents who spoke to us under the condition of anonymity due to concerns of victimization have stated that Wambugu is unwelcome at Masii Girls under any circumstances. They assert that they prefer a local candidate to assume leadership of their institution.

Those opposing her include teachers, students, parents, and members of the Parents Association (PA) and Board of Governors (BoG). They argue that her questionable past at Mumbi Girls is the primary reason for their rejection.

They are now appealing to the TSC to act swiftly and rescind her appointment; otherwise, they will prevent her from opening the school in January and will not permit her to enter the premises.

At Mumbi, she was known for her solitary decision-making style, often neglecting to consult her deputies, the board, or the PA on significant matters. She governed with an iron fist, employing coercion, intimidation, and threats against those who held differing views.

Such intimidation allowed her to exploit and mismanage school funds, failing to initiate any substantial development projects, which led to a decline in academic performance.

She pressured PA members to endorse illegal actions, particularly concerning unauthorized fees. These factors have led the stakeholders at Masii to reject her, and a confrontation is anticipated in January when the schools reopen.
